One of us was blessed enough to attend Tulane University…actually belles went to Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University…Sophie Newcomb is no more, but the belles live on…
It was an amazing stroke of luck to get to spend those college years with a slew of fabulous girls…all with personality, charisma, mischief and creativity. We thought it was about time we shared the tremendous creations and gifts they have brought to the world.
There is a long list, and they each deserve their own spotlight…so we will share them one at a time.
Sara Ruffin Costello is our first belle star! From the first day she stepped on campus, she was vibrant, vivacious, exhuberant and magnetic! She was part of the dynamic team that started Domino Magazine…which is to this day one of our favorite mags…we only wish it was still a monthly.
Even the hard cover is scrumptious…

And inside…oh my! Yes, please!
Y’all order it on Amazon!!
What a beautiful creation you’ve made, Sara…thank you for sharing!
We recently took a little journey to the west coast with a slew of amazing belle-friends…17 to be exact…
While there, our hosts at the AMAZING Inn at Newport Ranch served meal after meal that kept us raving! One item that especially caught our attention was the salad dressing that has become their signature. Luckily, they were kind enough to share their secret…from Mendocino Jams and Preserves.
They happen to use the ginger mustard…
2 T “Our Ginger Mustard” (from Mendocino Jams & Preserves)
2 T Balsamic vinegar
6 T extra virgin olive oil
2 t chopped shallot
1 t maple syrup (may use honey)
Place all in a good jar or cruet…give it a good shake…and you are set!
Bauble Bar is still kickin’ it, belles! They seem to stay on-trend without missing a step…all while being super budget-friendly. What more could a belle ask for??
Here are some of our recent faves…
The Gabriela Stud Tassel…available here
Samba Ball Drops…available here
Tango Ball Drops…available here
The Shamia Drop earring…available here
Bauble on, belles!!
While we each tend to have our favorite cocktail (Mount Gay & soda…Blanton’s & water), we are up for trying just about anything! (All in the name of research for our TALKGreenville articles, of course)
That’s why this article from Liquor.com caught our eye. Since we are not necessarily scotch drinkers, we consider it a challenge to make this elixir a bit of a focus for this month…and because “Scotch-tober ” has a catchy ring to it!

Or how about something creamy and sweet mixed with Scotch??! This one uses yogurt, honey, chocolate, and habanero bitters. Who knew such a serious liquor could actually be fun??
Or maybe we will head down to Charleston and hit up the Dewberry for this beautiful, rosy, scotch-based creation.
The possibilities are endless, belles!
Our latest TALKGreenville magazine contribution…
We decided to honor the 200+-year tradition of Oktoberfest for this month’s cocktailin’ adventure, paying a visit to our dear German friends at Schwaben House on Laurens Road in Greenville. This annual beer-party-and-more typically begins in mid-September and runs until the first weekend in October…meaning that you still have time to celebrate, folks! Schwaben House has you covered. Prost!
Don’t be shocked by the impressive “head” on your German-poured beer. Although Americans tend to frown upon this frothy foam, a true German would disagree. We all know that taste is dependent on smell…and the smell is in that bubbly top! Without that proper head, you lose half of the beer-tasting enjoyment. And, any German will tell you…if your beer doesn’t have that foamy collar, your glass must be dirty or the beer is flat. Nicht gut.
We certainly don’t promote inappropriate touching, but if you’re offered a kiss on the lips here…say yes! Served in a sugar-rimmed champagne glass and a healthy dose of sweet confetti, this concoction will have you begging for another. Comprised of vodka, raspberry sorbet and Sangue de Guida (an Italian wine with a touch of fizz) it’s sure to tickle your fancy.
It’s down right delectable, delightful and addicting….just like a good kiss on the lips! In fact, it will have you falling for more…just ask Angi!
The Washington Apple…
This fresh, crisp, fall-worthy drink tastes like you’ve been apple-picking without the labor but with all the reward! Bird Dog Whiskey is the main ingredient here and for good reason…it is one of the most intriguing whiskeys we’ve tried. We thoroughly enjoyed taste testing it neat! Add a touch of cranberry juice and some prosecco and you have yourself amazing taste thrill. Served in an artsy martini glass with a slice of fresh apple…well now you have autumnal perfection!!
It’s all in the glass…
Yes…the glass used for your beer does matter! Different beers require different classes. While a Weizenbock reqires a Weizen glass, others might require a pilsner, chalice, snifter, tulip, stein, flute, stange, pint, or even an oversized-wine glass. Do your homework, folks. Or maybe just go let Schwaben House do it for you!
With the weather finally on the brink of being decent, you might want to book a table on Schwaben House’s “biergarten” patio. This space is a German oasis just waiting for folks to enjoy a cold beer and das fressen (that’s chow, baby). And if you want our two-cents, we recommend you try the potato salad (made fresh every morning), the soups, and the salmon…and just about anything else that tickles your fancy. It’s all good, freunde!
A belle friend of ours just hooked us up with the most amazing makeup line that is sure to become a happy addiction!
Heck…the packaging alone is a treat in itself!!
So…we bought concealer which really works and doesn’t melt off!
Another great purchase was the setting spray with sunscreen – and it smells good!
Limelight’s lip glosses are amazing. The colors are beautiful and very wearable and are great for layering…but they can stand alone too!!
Check out the mirror and the bling!!! Genius!!
Divine!! We bought the color Dream
Now the piece de resistance….the oil. Our skin has never felt or looked better…truly!!
When they call it a one drop wonder they aren’t kidding. Concocted of only Pomfera oil, this booster works for all skin types and won’t clog your pores. Y’all will soon be glowing from within!!!
Glow belles glow!
